I get a lot of LinkedIn requests from people I don’t know. That’s expected—and welcome. The “Add a note” field is often underused.
Here’s one I see a lot:
“I’m interested in connecting with you to discuss roles you’re working on that I’m a fit for.” It’s vague and transactional.
Now compare that to something like:
“I’m a brand strategist with 10+ years in beauty and fashion, including Glossier and Sleepy Jones. Currently exploring roles focused on storytelling and creative development—would love to stay on your radar.” Clear, specific, and easy to say yes to.
This goes beyond messaging recruiters. It’s about how you introduce yourself to the people who might actually bring you in.
