About the Position

Girlfriend Collective is looking for a driven, passionate, highly multifaceted apparel expert to lead Apparel Production. This key role will oversee and manage every aspect of our Apparel Production: sourcing, supply chain, fit, process, calendar, and vendor management, for all Apparel categories. At Girlfriend Collective, we believe in quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design; this role will have the opportunity to grow business while upholding Girlfriend’s high standards of beautiful, sustainable, and ethical apparel.


What You’ll Do 

  • Oversee and manage every step in the manufacturing and production process from sourcing, sampling, testing, and delivery (think: T&A calendar, fabric production, POs, protos, sample schedules, fit models, quality control, import logistics, and warehouse delivery).

  • Own, improve and manage the production calendar for multiple collections and launches happening simultaneously.

  • Ensure product specifications are communicated clearly and on time

  • Drive and support the best global offerings in respect to price, lead time, delivery, and quality

  • Approve all pre-production line items/submits/ test reports/PO’s for bulk production

  • Pull weekly reports on sourcing timelines and closely track the development process

  • Ensure tracking of bulk production by maintaining strong communication with both domestic and overseas factories and vendors on a daily basis

  • Partner with merchandising and planning to ensure adequate flow of goods relative to orders and anticipated re-order/speed to market criteria

  • Monitor factories to ensure garments are held to company’s quality expectation standards and maintain consistency from initial concept sample to bulk production; provide improvement solutions to team and vendors when encountering issues

  • Negotiate with vendors on target fabric/trim costs, leadtimes and minimums with mills and suppliers

  • Drive a quality focused, cost effective, flexible Production/PD strategy that supports various categories for the brand

  • Create and manage seasonal product development calendar with cross-functional partners for all deadlines including sketch review, fabric commitment, fit approvals, wash approvals, sample dates, production timing, and garment commit dates. Set and articulate expectations to ensure approval deadlines are being met

  • Maintain relationships with key vendors and maximize a speed to market domestic production strategy

  • Evaluate suppliers and create new vendor matrix

  • Evaluate the marketplace to identify and review applicability of key trends in manufacturing, fabrications and construction

  • Work closely with design partners to oversee the sample development process which includes sourcing, proto fit development, tracking and costing; troubleshoot issues that may impact pricing targets

  • Participate in fit sessions to ensure on-time pattern and comment release from technical design


What You’ll Need/Who You Are 


  • 7+ years experience in product development or apparel production 

  • Proficient understanding of the complexity of the product development life cycle, including: development, sampling, costing, packaging and production

  • Exceptional knowledge of product development and fabric sourcing

  • Great communicator, team builder with strong leadership skills; ability to work closely with Apparel Design, Technical Design, Merchandising, and Planning teams as well as with agents, factories and other external partners 

  • Extreme attention to detail, creative and critical thinking skills

  • Proficient in Excel, Google Apps, Microsoft Office

  • A team player and a strategic thinker who is passionate about sustainability
